Biography of Dr. Konchok Bhauchung
Dr Konchok Bhauchung was born in Rusar Nyima village, Nakchu Sernyi, Near the headwaters of the mighty Mekong on the vast northern plains of Tibet.
In 1989, he entered Drong Ngur Thubten Namgyal Ling Monastery of the Drikung Kagyu tradition, where he engaged in religious practice and studied ritual performance, sacred dance, drawing, chanting, calligraphy, and related disciplines.
In 1995, he went to Dehradun, India, to study Buddhist philosophy and other fields of knowledge at Jangchub Ling, the principal seat of the glorious Drikung Kagyu tradition. Under the guidance of the lineage holder, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgön Rinpoche, together with the monastic community, he completed the preliminary practices of the Fivefold Mahamudra, including supplementary fire offerings and related rituals.
In 1998, he enrolled at Chakpori Tibetan Medical Institute in Darjeeling, western India, where, under Kyabje Trogawo Rinpoche and other medical teachers, he studied the general theory of Tibetan medicine, grammar, poetics, and related subjects for five years, successfully completing his education.
In 2002, after successfully completing practical clinical training and pharmaceutical application at the Central Men-Tsee-Khang, he further pursued studies in acupuncture science at Ser-Jey Health Care Center in southern India, while also gaining practical experience in its application.
In 2003, in Dehradun, at the Srongtsen Library (Research Institute for Tibetan and Himalayan Traditions), he worked on compiling and organizing important ancient medical manuscripts of the Drikung tradition, including:
The Great Medical Treatise: The Glorious Four Tantras with Commentary,
Drikung Collected Essential Medicine,
and The Great Obstacle-Clearing Visualization Manual,
along with other rare texts. During this period, he also worked as a physician at Lhunkhang Tibetan Medical Clinic in Delhi.
In 2009, he published a literary work titled The Crimson Consciousness of Life Blood, He also contributed diverse writings to journals and magazines such as Srongtsen Tsangyang, Char-ké Böpa, Drongkar Ngur Dra, Tashi Lhadar, Devotional Offering Clouds of the Mind, and Melodious Echoes of the Empty Valley, among others.
In 2012, at Drikung Kagyu Rinchen Ling Monastery in Nepal, he served as a physician at Drikung Phende Medical Clinic. Alongside this, he carried out medical outreach and free medicine distribution in the Himalayan mountain regions of Humla Lemi and the nomadic highland areas of Lapchi Gang Ra.
In 2016, he founded the Drikung Sorig Amrita Herbal Product, where he currently continues his work in the science and practice of Tibetan medicine preparation
